PROJECT SUMMARY

Careline Connections project consists of provision of training and equipment, providing the cost of 20 headsets and handsets including the pro rata cost of 82 sets in total, of two items per volunteer.

Our costs are generally minimal due to volunteer involvement and working from home for the bulk of volunteers. handset and headset will be retained at the volunteers house and returned to us if they cease volunteering. This grant request is to provide funding for 20 new volunteers.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

The funding will allow us to equip 20 new volunteers with telephone, headset, and training to be able to serve on the Careline. In turn, this will increase the availability to answer calls from any caller around the country, and provide someone to talk to or pray with.

Profile of Careline Connections Ltd

Careline Connections Ltd

Careline Connections Ltd is a NFP Telephone Helpline advertised on Christian CMAA FM Radio stations across Australia. We are a volunteer organisation and are in need of support to equip up to 60 new volunteers during 2024. This includes training, telephone handset and headset and general operating costs which need to be covered.

Careline operates from 9am to 11pm seven days per week including Public Holidays. We currently have 65 volunteers and are in process to increase to 120 volunteers, each working one 3 or 4 hour shift per fortnight. We have a Careline Counsellor offering regular support to volunteers and other Counsellors available for callers should they need more than our volunteers can provide.

The Careline Model
Listen: we listen in a respectful person-centred way to ensure callers feel accepted, valued and understood
Care: we care for callers while maintaining the boundaries that ensure our self-care
Refer: we provide immediate support on the telephone, and making appropriate referrals to other agencies, professional and churches, depending upon a caller's needs
Pray: we pray with and for callers who request it in a supportive compassionate way both on the telephone and through a prayer team
