Project Summary:

Homelessness Project - Platform Nine.
Since this project was launched 4 years ago we have provided crisis and temporary accommodation for over 600 men, woman and children. With the highest need being women and children escaping family and domestic violence. Our records show that we have been able to rehouse 90% of our guests into more longer term housing solutions. With the growing need of over 500 people each night who suffer from some sort of homelessness, particularly affecting men, we are looking for a funding partner to set up accommodation supporting men and single dads.
Currently the majority of supported accommodation is for women and children. There is currently no supported accommodation for men in our area other than our current 2 beds. We would like to increase this to 10-12 . Our current inquiries and applications support this need. The funding required is for the cost of securing a premises to lease and then funding practical costs, set up costs and initial staffing costs.

Project Outcomes:

1. A safe and secure accommodation option for men and single dads - this will be achieved by leasing new property.

2. Supported services for these men , including case management, food, clothes, bedding and socialisation - this will be achieved through employment of supported staff as well as networking with other services for additional resources.

3. Access to additional services including medical, mental health, education & employment - network with other services though our current relationships and new ones to be established.
