Project Summary:

To assist all primary school students in the City of Casey with free vision/reading glasses if they require them
Since commencing this programme, which started with the testing of preps and grade 1 students, we were in a position financially to extend the program to all primary school students in the City of Casey, this includes 43 schools in total. The number of glasses we donate has grown significantly and quickly.
The glasses programme is funded by grants, donations and our major fundraiser held once a year in October.
Last year the fundraiser raised $58,000. This amount has already been used towards the glasses. We are constantly looking for grants & donations to continue to fund this programme.

Project Outcomes:

All primary school students in the City of Casey who require vision testing/reading glasses will benefit from this programme.
Most often we see families experiencing disadvantages or barriers to accessing eye care services, mainly due to financial cost. Many students attend school struggling to see clearly & with our programme we have taken the financial burden off many families to help change this. We have seen a significant improvement with the students learning abilities and would love to keep providing this service. It is a wonderful feeling to know that we have been able to give & make a difference to a student’s life.
