Goulburn Valley Medical Workforce (GVMW) Fund is a sub-fund of the Australian Communities Foundation. It is a non-tax deductible charitable fund and grants from this Fund will be made to organisations and individuals for educational purposes.
The GVMW Fund is designed to provide scholarships and grants to increase capacity of the medical workforce in the Goulburn Valley region. It is expected that the scholarships and grants will be allocated over the next 10-15 years.
There are three main types of scholarship and grants:
- Existing general practitioners, practice nurses and practice support staff can apply for scholarships to increase their qualifications, skills, capacity and knowledge.
- Students accepted into allied health courses, nursing or medicine and medical graduates wishing to move into general practice are eligible for scholarships for up to 2 years.
- Organisations that provide recognised training to general practitioners in the Goulburn Valley area are eligible to apply for grants.
The Fund provides a great opportunity to increase medical workforce capacity in Goulburn Valley.
